Recently, the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, extended an invitation to CETAG in an effort to find a quick resolution to the prolonged strike. According to a report from Coleman Publications, the meeting was held at Jubilee House in Accra in August 2024. The representatives in attendance were from the Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) and CETAG.
Unfortunately, the Vice President was unavailable, so Mr. Fred Oware, Senior Advisor to the Vice President, took charge of the meeting and listened to the concerns raised by CETAG and PRINCOF."
The purpose of the meeting was to gain a deeper understanding of the issues that triggered the strike and to seek a swift resolution so that academic activities can resume in the 46 public colleges of education.
After listening to both parties, the Senior Advisor conveyed the Office of the Vice President's commitment to addressing the unresolved issues promptly. Mr. Oware also urged CETAG to call off their ongoing strike, reassuring them that the Vice President's Office is sympathetic to their concerns and will use its influence to ensure their demands are met.
In closing, the Senior Advisor emphasized the Vice President's dedication to resolving the concerns raised by CETAG and PRINCOF. He expressed hope that CETAG would return to work by Monday, August 19th, 2024, as the Vice President continues to advocate for the fulfillment of their demands.
It is our hope that CETAG will suspend the strike and return to teaching on Monday.
