The Education Minister recently signed an MoA with CETAG in order to call off the strike. However, CETAG met yesterday for a council meeting to discuss the memorandum with its lawyers. According to the lawyers, CETAG cannot call off the industrial strike because the MoA was declared null and void. CETAG has remained resolute in its stance, stating that it will not call off the strike until all their demands are met.
The MoA claims that the government is also promising that all of the awards will be put into effect by the end of August. Additionally, CETAG states that they will call off their strike as soon as they witness the implementation. This indicates that colleges of education might begin their autumn semester in September of 2023–2024.
To stop the strike, the NLC is requesting an injunction in court on Tuesday, 6th August.
Virgin News Gh will be giving an updates after court’s ruling.
